Winders are used in many industries. A coiler is a mechanical device that rolls products into rolls. In terms of complexity, steel plate coiling machines in the metallurgical industry are representative. The drive of the coiler comes from electricity, fluids, etc. A coiler generally consists of core equipment such as a drum (scroll), auxiliary coiling equipment (auxiliary forming equipment), and auxiliary coiling rollers (forming rollers). In the process of product winding, the product is mainly formed on the reel, which is usually dragged by a motor. The auxiliary winding equipment, the auxiliary winding roller, is generally rotated by the motor drag, and the fluid hydraulic cylinder drives the auxiliary winding roller to move to help smooth winding.

The coiler is mainly used to wind long rolled pieces into coils or plates. In modern cold-rolled strip workshops, coiling machines are also widely used in cutting, pickling, polishing and heat treatment after grinding, tin plating and galvanizing units.

Due to the differences in production processes between strip steel production and wire production, cold strip production and hot strip production, coiling machines still have their own characteristics and functions, resulting in structural differences between them.

There are many types of coilers, which can be divided into three types according to their purpose and structure:

1. A coiling machine with a tension drum is usually used to coil steel plates or strips under tension in a cold state;

2. Roll type coiler, used for hot and cold rolled steel plates and strips;

3. Wire and small steel coiling machine.
